An important partnership with Schmidt Futures and Rhodes was achieved to launch the RISE Program in Mexico; a program aimed to provide life support to extraordinary young people who want to change the world.

In 15 successful years, Bécalos has supported more than 339,830 students and teachers from low-income communities in our country.

With a special focus, in 2020, we launched programs and callouts aimed to support the health contingency; some of these programs were: Health Heroes –in a partnership with CMN and with Gol por Mexico. Due to this reason, Bécalos was settled as a solidarity partner, and therefore, this year did not make any fundraising efforts.

For the first time, we gave scholarships to students enrolled in health studies and to the sons and daughters of medical staff with the objective to promote this important profession, for the benefit of the whole society.

This year, we opened digital channels to connect with our grantees, to provide them useful and relevant content related to the circumstances we are all living, and in the same way we had a closer approach thanks to the technology.

As proof of our immediate response, we created new opportunities to give scholarships to students from families most harshly affected by the pandemic and to those who have lost some family members due to COVID-19.

Following our commitment with the education and health of Mexicans, our yearly congresses were celebrated digitally. Besides, one of our alumni worked in an application that is able to detect COVID-19.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

We contribute with Three UN Sustainable Development Goals: Quality Education, End of Poverty and Reduced Inequality. Bécalos is unique according to other systems because it develops specific skills for employment. Our grantees are able to get a formal-paid job, increasing the quality of their life and the life of those around them.
